Benchwarmers (it's inbetween Cobblestone and Morrisseys) are all nearby. I would avoid Irish Times if you are an out-of-town fan. Same with Washington Square. You could also start up on
Chippewa and take the train down to the Arena before and after. That area is more "college bar".
