About a year ago I was defending the slot while a loose puck was bouncing off of players like a pinball. As I was easing myself backward my feet came out from underneath me (to this day I do not know how, stepped on puck, blade, tripped?) It happened so fast the first thing to hit the ice was the back of my head. I was dazed but OK. for the next week all the strap muscles in my neck were killing me and still felt a little dazed. Time and rest fixed that issue but I would be a liar if I said I wasn't fearful of repeating the event and a year later I still have some fear when pivoting to skate backwards. I also bought a higher end helmet!
