Actually I was thinking of the 1989 draft but I meant to say the 1990 draft was so strong (not as strong as 89 but a lot of NHL players out of that draft year) you could have pull names from a hat and drafted an NHL player. How did Sather manage to not get a single one? Since I was off a year, it's not as damning of a statement but in 1989 - the draft players were falling out of trees in, all he got was Josef Beranek whom he promptly traded for Brian Benning who played all of 18 games for the Oilers, and Anatoli Semenov who was claimed in the expansion draft after a few years. Quite sad. 2003 was another year players who went on to play in the NHL were just everywhere and Nigel Dawes and his ~120 games w/ the Rangers was all he had to show for that draft.
