You take away the Callahan penalty in the first place and the situation leading to the 5 on 3 is gone too, no empty netter either.

Could they have scored? Absolutely. I'm not saying we were a great team- for the most part we were very ehh. I'm saying that, based on the no-call for the punch to Step's throat, the knee to knee on Girardi, and the call on Callahan, the Islanders didn't deserve to win the game the way they did at all.
I hate it when the refs are used as an excuse. Blah blah, late penalties blah blah bad calls. The bottom line is that the Isles should never even have been in the game at that point. All their top players are hurt. They have PA Parenteau on the top line! This guy has been a career minor leaguer up to this point. The Rangers deserved exactly what they got in this game.
