That doesn't make Ovechkin a significantly better goal-scorer. He's a marginally better goal-scorer.
No, he's a significantly better goal scorer. 90% of scoring goals is simply getting yourself into a position to score a goal. Ovechkin does that better than anyone else in the league by a mile... thus why he puts the puck towards net so often (aided by having a great shot).
This is the same reason goal scorers getting criticized for "floating" when they're looking for holes to get off shots is absurd. Brett Hull floated all the time, because his best skill was shooting the puck... you need to be in that position to shoot.
