Oh, and when it comes to the honing stone, do yourself a favor and order a pair of
. They're much finer grit and more consistent than the cheap ones at the rink (which won't actually hone but scratch your blades), plus they come with a leather case. Remember to get a pair.
Last edit, I promise...I got an original copy of Howie Meeker's hockey book, where he also sees no need for frequent sharpenings and recommends the stone.
