This is true.

Something similar that has always bothered me is that to negate a delayed penalty, you need to get possession of the puck. You can touch it but if it's deemed you didn't actually have possession or control, it doesn't matter. But, if a puck touches your left pant leg on the way into the net it counts as your goal.
