I am about as happy as you can be with the forward group, except the injury to Nylander. I think they have a pretty good group there and nothing about that is patchwork, except again for having to deal with the injury to Nylander.
The defense is another story. That group has a lot of questions at best and weak beyond that.
Can Gonchar handle the 30:00 load. Can Eminger step up and be a quality NHL top 4 defenseman on a good tea? Will Doig be at least as good as he was last year in his first full season? IF Kwiatkowski really plays with Gonchar will the scorch marks be visable by Thanksgiving?

The key to the Caps year is that they need big seasons from
Kolzig, Jagr, Gonchar, Bondra and breakout years from Eminger, Zubrus, Semin and Halpern.
We will see.
