Some post game notes:

Now that Flyers coach Peter Laviolette has the luxury of a healthy lineup, he’s using it as a motivational tool.

Saturday night against the Islanders Laviolette benched second-year left wing James van Riemsdyk in favor of rookie callup Eric Wellwood, who assisted on the Flyers’ game-winning goal in their 2-1 victory.

This was supposed to be a breakout season for Van Riemsdyk, the second player taken in the 2007 NHL draft, but the 21-year-old winger has no goals in his first 13 games. And with center Danny Briere returning from his three-game suspension Sunday night in Washington, it’s a pretty safe bet van Riemsdyk will sit again against the Capitals.
The question now is, who will join him in the press box?

Laviolette has three choices: Wellwood, Andreas Nodl or Nik Zherdev. Wellwood and Nodl combined for the winning goal on Long Island and saw meaningful third period shifts with the Flyers clinging to a one-goal lead.

“Nodl played another strong game for us and Wellwood continues to impress everybody with his hockey sense,” Laviolette said.

Zherdev, on the other hand, saw just 9:53 of ice time and failed to record a shot.
And then there is the issue of goaltending. Will rookie Sergei Bobrovsky, who is on a six-game win streak, receive his seventh straight start on short rest? Or will Laviolette turn to backup Brian Boucher, who has not played since Oct. 25?
