He simply does not have the offensive tools to excel at the NHL level in such a role, and this is from somebody who knows him personally. He's going to be an outstanding 3rd liner for you guys who logs key PK minutes and can chip in with some offense, and that's by all means fine and dandy. Jeff Carter, on the other hand... man, what a stud. I expect him to be racking up huge points season-in and season-out.
I expect Richards to eventually center our 2nd line. Richards is an excellent playmaker, and will get his share of goals around the net and on the occasional breakaway. While not the greatest skater in the world he gets to where he needs to be.
