I know Jack McCaffrey was on WIP last night, and said he got about 3 calls regarding the Phantoms, and it was mostly along the lines of "Why don't you talk more about the Phantoms?" He did make the point that, for the vast majority of Philadelphians, the Phantoms only matter as they relate to the Flyers, e.g., Pitkanen and Niittymaki developing, Carter and Richards adjusting to the pros, etc. Kinda sad. According to my dad, who was my age when the Flyers won their Cups, hockey was a huge deal in Philly in the 70s and 80s. Now, there are a lot of Flyers fans, much fewer NHL fans, and not too many big-time hockey-in-any-form fans.
