This is really nothing like the Sharp trade, as bad as that was. Sharp had proven he was an NHL-calibre player, but didn't like Hitch and wanted to play C, not RW. He didn't like being behind Carter, Richards and Umberger as up and coming Cs.

They traded him to remove a cancer in the Flyers' locker room. They traded Maroon to get rid of problem in the Phantoms' locker room.
