True, however, after reading Hockey Canada's release about the way they went about choosing the team, it was nothing short of laughable.

For years, Gretzky said that the problem with Hockey Canada was that they took the skill game away and went with players who could fit a system. Hockey Canada then went with Gretzky's approach and built teams on skill, speed and chemistry.

Reading Hockey Canada's release today, they said that the team won't have the skill that other teams had, but it will be hard working and a gritty team. So, instead of going with players that actually have skill, they decided to go with a bunch of grinders and muckers.

Honestly, I'm not surprised though, especially with Kevin Pendergrast as the head scout of Hockey Canada. All what one needs to do is look at his record as head scout of the Oilers and one can see that Pendergrast doesn't know his arse hole from a hole in the ground. And the coach of the team this year has a 22-20-1 record, but because his team plays a "gritty, two-way, hard working game", the team that they picked fits his ideology.

Really, what ever happened to the ideology of icing the best players? The fact that McKegg, Ranford and countless others were left off while some scrubs got an opportunity is nothing short of a joke.
