As a Flames fan, I would love this deal. But the Senators would be stupid to make this deal. I doubt Murray would have any interest in taking on Sutter's bad contracts and dig themselves in an even deeper hole to help us.
Kovalev is a fourth liner with tension with the coach. That 5 million dollars is already been hit against Ottawa, so Ottawa gets more bang for their buck by adding a 2nd/3rd liner centreman/winger and a dependable defenseman that'll listen to the coach, rather than a 5 million dollar winger that gets 5 mins of ice time.
