On Dec. 15, 1925, professional hockey made its debut in New York before a capacity crowd of 17,000 at the grand opening of Madison Square Garden. Regimental bands and the Montreal Canadiens were on the ice for the first N.H.L. game in the city, and hundreds of New Yorkís society elite in tuxedos and gowns filled the most expensive seats.
Rich people in the good seats...some things never change.

And no, I wasn't at the game.
