It's not even close.
To top it off he is 4 or 5 years younger.

A guy has one bad year after being a number 1 defensmen for years and now all of a sudden a fading Desjardins is better, that's hilarious.

As far as costing less, it is more likely that Desjardins costs more.
He has a player option for 4 million, which he will obviously excersize.
The two sides may work something out to bring that number down, but how far will Rico go down to, 2.5, 3 million?
The two will probably end up costing about the same.
So you can throw that weak idea out the window with the rest of your weak ideas on this.

Seriously, if you think Desjardins is better than Hamrlik you are either a big homer, or your hockey knowledge is totally confined to the Flyers.
