I understand you're not making it a Ranger-Islander thing. My point is Stan is overly optomistic about all the teams. Whether he felt that the Rangers would catch the Isles or not (and more people than just Stan felt that way) he is always hyping the local teams. And if the Rangers had made it in, I think that would have faired better than they did in the regular season. Hell, Ottawa was already getting ready to complain about the Rangers' money and the fact that they "bought" Kovalev.
