Obviously, we need to replace Markov. Obviously, if that were an easy thing to do, JG would do it. It isn't. It's borderline impossible. Just as getting a "top six" forward is, without giving up something (Eller, Subban,) that you would be crazy to give up for a rental, which is by definition all you could get. (A player who is signed long term isn't going to be available mid-season.) So...the sad truth is that the Canadiens season, in the sense of Cup-hopes, died when Markov went out. Lots of good games and good moments may lie ahead, but next year is the one to think about.
