Erik Gustafsson recalled (Laviolette expects Timonen to play at Los Angeles)

The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have recalled 5-10, 180-pound defenseman Erik Gustafsson from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms, on emergency conditions, according to general manager Paul Holmgren. It is the first NHL call-up for Gustafsson, who will be available for tomorrow's game against the Los Angeles Kings and will wear #27.

Timonen says its 50/50 he plays vs kings but won't miss more than a game. Leg injury it appears.
Update from Sarah B. @ CSN Philly:

Kimmo's injury was to his hip flexor -- and isn't bad. Playing tomorrow isn't a stretch.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – Watching Kimmo Timonen walk around the LA Kings’ practice facility on Wednesday afternoon, you might not suspect he’s injured.

The Flyers defensman is nursing a sore left hip.

Timonen, by his own admission, is “50/50” to play in Thursday’s game against the Kings in Los Angeles after aggravating the hip early in the third period of Tuesday’s 6-2 loss in Vancouver.

The Flyers are already banged up on defense with the loss of Chris Pronger for four to six weeks, following foot surgery.

Timonen walked with a slight limp and seemed to be favoring his left side. He also wore a left ankle support.

Flyers coach Peter Laviolette expects that Timonen will play. As a precaution, however, the club called up 22-year-old rookie Erik Gustafsson from the Phantoms.

10-year anniversary of Afleet Alex. A group from Philly, a little girl, an "anxious" jockey and a spirited horse were bonded forever.
