Don't you think that maybe, just maybe, the players/owners saw that having a lockout, like the NHL, would do nothing but kill the cash cow.

Absolutely, but the NBA players weren't going to sit out over the age limit of the NBA draft, or any of those other issues, and the owners got dealt a good card when they weren't even giving the players 50% of revenues (it will be 51 now). So they had that to trade and 48% of NBA revenues is much more than 54% in the NHL.
