Tim P.'s post-game report is up:
Early on, Leighton legitimately looked as if he hadn’t played an NHL game with a pair of bad first-period goals.
“I wasn’t nervous but more excited to get out there and it seemed to backfire because that first goal was pretty weak,” Leighton said. “I definitely felt better in the third period. [Goalie coach] Jeff Reese told me I had to start fighting for pucks more and try to find it. I wasn’t seeing the pucks coming in. I worked on it in the third and it seemed to help.”
Twice the Flyers came back from deficits, forged ahead in the middle frame, then survived a third-period push from the Kings.
“I thought we had good jump offensively,” Laviolette said. “I was really happy to see us come back when it was 1-0 and then 1-1 and come back again.
