I think Pete and Terry made that out to be a little bit more of a "sure goal" than reality should have allowed, which may have skewed some of our perceptions.

The burden of overturning falls to the video replay. It was called no goal on the ice, and going on the supposedly "conclusive" video that Pete and Terry were raving about, you basically saw a shadow bounce off the back of Rinne's pads, without a clear indication that it was completely over the line. Could you infer that it was over the line? Sure, but that's not enough to overturn the call. There has to be conclusive evidence that the puck was all the way across the line...I certainly didn't see it.
