Also, and this will piss off Habs fans:
Subban is a year older than Karlsson. He's more physically mature. He has 19 points in 44 games (5 goals).
Karlsson has 27 points (8 goals) in 47 games, and is on the all-star team.
Karlsson > Subban.
Watch more Senators games. He's got great recovery skills, and is superb at positioning. The only thing holding him back is he needs to add muscle, which he will. By 22 or 23, he could be one of the best defenders, period, in the league.
His offensive skills are off the charts.
Honestly, while I agree people are prone to over valuing prospects, in this particular instance there is nothing to suggest Karlsson won't become a top 5 defender league wide. If you compare him to Duncan Keith (similar size/build), Karlsson is 2.5 years ahead of where Keith was at 23. Keith won the Norris this past year.
Karlsson is tied for 19th in D-scoring and is -16. If you think that makes him a shoe-in All-Star and that the fact no other Sens' players deserve to be there in front of him didn't play a role, please feel free.
Apart from manning the point on the PP, I'd take Subban over Karlsson in every other aspects of the game.
Karlsson is a stud though, a very beautiful player to watch.
