AHL in Indiana?

Does anyone know why Indianapolis does not have an AHL team? I know they had a team way back when, but I've heard nothing recent. They had the Ice in the IHL/CHL, but it doesn't seem like hockey was much of a draw in the city. It seems like a city that should have a bigger hockey market, but other than the Racers in the WHA haven't had much since. Is that because of the other sports options?

Fort Wayne is another town that seems like a great fit for the AHL, as they lead the CHL, and formerly the IHL, in attendance, drawing big numbers to the Komets games. They are out-drawing most AHL teams with an average of 7,388 - an average that was consistent in the IHL over the years.
