Some thoughts on the game, period by period
Anaheim was the smoother team
We seemed rusty, jittery and nervous
Tootoo was very, very nervous on that first shift
Nash missed several chances early
Anaheim missed several chances in the middle of the period and really took over from there until intermission
Anaheim missed what was almost two empty nets. Vokoun made a great save on one and Sykora missed an empty net. Think he hit the side of the goalcage.
Couldn't figure out why Brookbank got an extra roughing penalty on his tussle with Burnett.
Burnett took Brookbank in their very short match
Walker took Simpson in their long, punchfest
Defense seemed out of sync, especially Schnabel and York
Vokoun was incredible
In the second period...
Legwand had a great no look to AJ for the one-time goal
2 bad line changes resulted in two great chances for Anaheim
Arkhi won faceoff's all night long
Brookbank took Burnett in their second duel. Another short one.
Hamhuis looks great out there. Lupul had a jump on him but Hamhuis just cleanly picked his pocket and went the other way with the puck.
In the 3rd period...
Odd bounce/bad bounce onto Neids stick for the goal. Zidlicky just got outmuscled by Rob.
Questionable call on the Walker goalie interference. In a close game like this one, you rarely see that called. We are the exception.
Tootoo drew a penalty from Burnett and...
Timonen found Zidlicky in the left face off dot and Zids found Legwand on the other dot for an empty netter. Great find by Zids and a beautiful PP goal. Delmore sure as hell couldn't do that.
