only way I would trade Versteeg is for a good prospect that has 1st line potential or in a package to land a legitimate top 3 forward (center or LW)
Steegers 1st 3 full years in NHL

08-09 78 GP / 22 goals + 31 assists = 53 pts (17:02 ATOI)
09-10 79 GP / 20 goals + 24 assists = 44 pts (15:44 ATOI)
10-11 46 GP / 12 goals + 19 assists = 31 pts (19:28 ATOI)

Brouwers 1st 3 full years in NHL

08-09 69 GP / 10 goals + 16 assists = 26 pts (15:05 ATOI)
09-10 78 GP / 22 goals + 18 assists = 40 pts (16:22 ATOI)
10-11 50 GP / 15 goals + 13 assists = 28 pts (15:12 ATOI)

Honestly outside of there 1st year when Steeger was getting consistant top 6 minutes they have put up similiar #'s and this year Brouwer is playing as well as Steeger with far less ice time

As for the better player that is debatable and Versteeg is only 10 months younger then Brouwer so it is not that big of a difference
