Got to agree. Last year was incredible compared to this year. But there were some major logistical issues this time with player arrivals.
The new extra-curricular activities were saviours when the meltdowns began to surface for my kids. We could have had more autographs, but it was much more work this year than last.
Two major downers (neither of which have anything to do with the Flyers):
1. About the last thing I want to hear from folks between 4:45 and 5:10 p.m. is how much Meet the Team sucks. Actually, I hate hearing that at any time. If you think it sucks, pick another early bird reward. There are plenty of sports teams that don't offer the perks the Flyers do.
2. If you are in my age range (old enough to have kids, young enough to have a lot of bills ahead of you), act like an adult. After they let us in the atrium, the lines devolved into a mass of humanity. And here are these guys who are in their 30s-40s pushing through to get to the front. I picked up my youngest, and told my oldest where I'd meet her upstairs. From the atrium to the escalator, more grown men without kids wedged their way between me and my oldest. I could see her, but I didn't want her to stop and get trampled. Fortunately, she was cool with the situation, and knows the WFC enough to have gone exactly where I told her I'd catch up to her.
As for what I loved, all of the guys were great. I don't know if I ever said anything bad about Danny Briere before, but I never will in the future. He took the time to talk to each of my girls. So what if the line went slow for a minute?
Worst thing for us was the lower level guys. The kids had to reach over seats to get to them. My youngest couldn't see the players without climbing onto the seats, a problem that looked like it snarled all of the lines. Anyone else with smaller kids had similar issues.
