One headache for another headache.
Drury has a NMC. Why would he waive it? He has zero role on the Rangers. The team is going in a different direction. Why would he waive it for Columbus? Scott Arniel was an assistant coach for Buffalo when Drury was a Sabre. They were together for 3 years including the lockout year. Drury is a winner and a good leader. Columbus needs to change their mix.
Drury has one more season remaining @$5M salary/$7.05M cap hit.
Commodore has two seasons remaining @$6.85M in salary($3.5M and $3.35M)/$3.75M cap hit.
The Rangers take on nearly $2M in salary and the extra year.

If Howson can't find a taker for Mike Commodore's contract, he could be bought out.
