well remember a lot of teams have RFA's to sign, and combined with the players they already have signed, that makes their core they've already had in place.

the teams that will be successful next year, IMO, are the ones who have core players already under contract or as RFA's so they can be easily signed. they may still have holes to fill but with that core in place it'll be much easier to compete

the rangers have no such core. I don't think grabbing up a bunch of UFA's will build that core and make the rangers successful. doing so will probably just result in more mediocrity as the players signed struggle to find their place on the team and as the team in general struggles to come together.
