Buyouts.....why it's a good idea to buy out Roenick as well

Ok, so I was looking on the TSN website and it showed that currently, the Flyers have 13 players on the roster signed and that it adds up to $33,782,777. If we buy out Roenick, Leclair, and Amonte, that's $16,276,177 that comes off the payroll. Almost half of what we have is tied into three players. We then sign Sharp, Seidenberg, Branko and Somik for $500,000 each. That puts our payroll up $19,506,600. We sign Gagne for $2,500,000, Esche for 1,800,000 and Johnsson for 2,225,000. So, we're up at $26,031,600. We sign Carter and Richards for $850,000 each and we're up at $27,731,600. We have almost twelve million dollars left to sign another top four defenseman and two decent wingers.

I think the Flyers seriously have to consider buying out Roenick at this point. When you consider we can probably get a Stillman and Demitra with a defenseman like Rathje or Foote, then there shouldn't be any reason why we don't do it. I'm thinking a top line of Gagne - Carter - Demitra; Sharp-Handzus-Radivojevic; Kapanen-Primeau-Somik;Knuble-Richards-Stillman. That's a pretty good forward lineup right there. As for defense, you could have Markov-Pitkanen; Foote-Johnsson; Seidenberg-Desjardins (ugh, I wish he were gone, but they'll probably keep him around) and then an extra like Meyer or maybe even Picard.

We have the goaltending of Esche-Niittymaki and we're quite ok.
