As you get older, the travel and health issues related with those long hours start taking their toll. Additionally, there's not much reason for Bowman to come back...he's got consulting deals with the NHL and the Red Wings before that which no doubt pay well but have substantially fewer hours.

I just don't see a reason why Bowman would comeback, least of all to build a team from scratch at age 72...
