Maybe, just maybe, Kopitar is not the player we all hope and need him to be.
He had a 8 goals in 38 game streak in the middle of last season, and ended with just 2 in the last 14 games. These slow periods are not unusual for him - the reason why is the question. If he knows that moving his feet, playing up the middle and shooting more often make him more effective, then why does he refuse to do these things for weeks at a time?
He has struggled with a variety of different wingers.
Maybe the point streaks are the abberation, and we just have a slightly more skilled Martin Hanzal.
We will never know until Kopitar starts to demand more from himself instead of settling for taking what the opposition gives him. He isn't doing that. He needs to take ownership of his line and stop being a passenger to whatever his linemates are bringing - that's the big flaw in his game, and I think a lot of us are overlooking that aspect.
