The day that a journeyman like Many who's found his niche blocks you from making your team is when it is clear that

A. you don't have the tools to contribute/develop in a 3rd line role on a contending team

B. if you are already 3 years removed from your draft year and you still haven't made the team, you are probably more likely to bust or at least come up way short than meet the sky high star expectations
SC/RNH would break Ottawa's top 6 because it's shallow and weak.

Look at the Canucks roster. It is stacked.

Gillis is going with a 6/6 format. 6 offensive forwards, 6 defensive forwards. This is because the 9/3 the last two years failed and winning teams like Chicago used the 6/6 format

Gillis got the bottom 6 grinders he wanted.

Cody can easily break the bottom 6, but that's not preferable for his development. Cody is not a grinder/role player. We don't want him playing low minutes with **** linemates.

As for the top 6 we want Cody playing at center and developing as a center. But we happen to have Henrik "leading the league in assists" Sedin and Ryan "3rd in the league in goals" Kesler centering the top two lines.

Why have Cody on the wing of Kesler when Samuelsson can do a decent job at it while Cody gets MORE minutes in the AHL?

Do you understand player development at all?

Cody Hodgson cannot crack the top 6 of the #1 team in the NHL, that doesn't make him a bust.

By your logic Kadri is a 100% bust because he's also 3 years removed from being drafted and hasn't made his nhl club despite them being SECOND LAST the prior year AND Kadri didn't lose a year of muscle training and hockey due to an injury.

So you may watch hockey but you certainly don't know much about it. To call CoHo a 3rd/4th liner is beyond stupid. Go look up what some experts think of him. They seem to still have him rated as the #1 prospect across the league.
