It's hard to believe that people are writing him off after one season. Most savvy hockey fans that grew up with the sport realize that it takes a little while for guys like Tootoo to round off his game.

But even savvier fans can generally see that a decent amount of goals in junior don't necessarily suggest that there will be a translation to the NHL or even the AHL. In the case of Tootoo, that's not really a big deal. He brings enough to the team in drawing penalties\providing a spark, so it's not a huge deal that he might never be more than a 7-10 goal guy. He pays for his lunch in other ways...but some fans(NOT so much here, but on 'other' boards) won't ever be satisfied to see him on the third line. I think most here are pretty realistic about his upside...probably not a "punishing two way forward," but more of a "pesky sparkplug that knocks other teams off their games and OCCASIONALLY pots a goal."
