You can get a core player with a second round pick.

The chances of getting a player like Richards at all, are slim.

You have to give to get. If you know my posts, I'm usually always against giving up draft picks and young players. But in this situation we have built a solid young core, we still have kids like Kreider, Hagelin, McIlrath, Grachev, Werek coming up.

This is the time to acquire the piece that would make us a contender. We can continue to add young pieces, too.

Who knows what the price actually would be. Could be less then that.
Frankly, I'd rather part with the likes of Hagelin or Kundratek, instead of a #1, for the rights to negotiate with Richards. Remember, Philly gave Nashville back their #1 from the Forsberg deal to negotiate with BOTH Hartnell and Timmonen. I'll keep the #1 pick and part with redundant prospects.
