Well, the idea is that Philly does not eat any of LeClair's salary, and Edmonton either has to pay him $6.84 million for the season (which I would assume they wouldn't do), or buy him out ($4.56 million for 2005-06). I don't think that is too bad. Edmonton would basically be buying Crosby from us. And, that would be a great loophole for us, if Bob Clarke believed LeClair had any good hockey left in him. Teams are not going to be allowed to re-sign the players they buy out, but we'd be able to if it were Edmonton buying him out. We could re-sign him for several million dollars less a year. The reality of the situation seems to say that we would use that freed-up cash to sign a young winger replacement, though.
