A non-Melo/Knicks related question here, I am a bit curious. Most city rivalries have some way to determine which team you end up supporting. I.e. the Celtic - Rangers rivalry of Glasgow (protestant vs. catholic), working class vs. middle/upper class or a geographical divide such as Devils/Rangers/Islanders.
What's the deal with Lakers/Clippers? I understand that in a city/met. area of that size there's room enough for two teams, but why does one end up as a Clippers fan?
