It wasn;t more about comparing them as players (which you could do if you wanted to) it was more that if a player is a risk of never even seeing NHL duty for whatever reason being he may stay in the KHL or may not ever be talented, it's better to risk a late round pick on this risk then a #16 overall which if you want to be sucessfull, the 1st round pciks has to be a player that plays on your team.

Big risk by St. Louis and it's not like they traded a depth Dman to get Tarasenko, they traded away a really high end prospect to get him, to me I think it's unwise.
