However I've seen no signs that the NYR management is so delusional as to think the team is in a win now mode. Richards will be available in the offseason, and if he wants to come here, the NYR will have the salary space to get it done.

Any proposals that have the NYR mortgaging their future for a rental in a season where they're not shoe-in contenders is MASSIVE OVERPAYMENT.

And as far as including Staal, well that just isn't going to happen. No NHL franchise is parting with an All-Star, 24 year old, premier shut down, mobile defenseman that logs both PP and PK minutes. The hole they'd fill at center would be nothing compared to the hole they'd create in the organization's defensive core.

This proposal doesn't make any sense at all.

EDIT:

You want to move Richards to the NYR because you feel you won't be able to resign him, your return should be something similar to:

Anisimov
Gilroy
3rd '11 (conditional to a 1st should Richards resign with the NYR)
1st in '12

or

MDZ
Hagelin
1st in '11

You might be able to do better shopping him to a team other than the NYR. As it seems very likely he'll sign in NYC either way this offseason.
TERRIBLE possible 2 first rndrs and AA,whats wrong with you man.

NYR is in no situation to be trading away any first rndrs for anyone, unless its Crosby or Ovechkin.
