The more and more I think about this the more I like it from LA's point of view. Namely because of the extra year on Penner's contract. I question whether the Kings would stick with him long term because I have never thought he was a "DL type of player". However, they at least get to try him out for the rest of the season and see what he can do for the Kings in the postseason (crossing fingers they make it). I think the biggest deterrent from trading for the big name winger in the offseason has been the prospect of giving up a good young player (a la simmonds, bernier, etc). With another year left on his contract, I doubt the Kings or Kings fans would lose sleep over trading Penner in a package.
