There have been plenty of prospects with size & speed who haven't made it in the NHL, and plenty of smaller players who have. The question not so much Thomas' size but whether he'll be productive in the NHL. Thomas' small stature by itself should not disqualify him.

What makes me optimistic is his productivity at a young age and his continual improvement. Productivity at a young age indicates natural talent, and continual improvement indicates work ethic. Both are necessary for a top prospect, although that's no guarantee.

I've said it before, but I like Thomas better than Kreider as a first line forward. Kreider's productivity just isn't there for me to feel confident about his future as a scoring forward.
