This is a report on Downie from a Spitfire fan on the OHL board who obviously sees him a lot.

"Personally, I don't see him playing in the NHL. He plays a powerforward game in the OHL which won't translate in the NHL when he's only 5'10. All his goals are ugly and come from crashing the net or being in close. He isn't a great fighter either and has a temper he has a hard time controlling, he gets ejected from about 1/3 (maybe even 1/2) of the games he plays in. Scouts call him an agitator but for every player he suckers into taking a bad penalty, he gets suckered himself 2-3 times.

On the plus, he is a great passer and scores a lot of clutch goals. Also very chippy and has a lot of desire to play. Keep in mind he's still young and can definitely work on his weaknesses, but I'd be suprised if he makes it in the NHL."
