I'm going to go ahead and say it. I don't think Eakin should be on the Capitals next year. At least not to start the season.
I know he looked great in camp, and I know Boudreau said he was close. But I see no reason to fast-track him given the situation our team is in. Give him time in Hershey and use him as an injury call-up.
If he absolutely goes nuts during the AHL play-offs, maybe I change my mind. But I see no reason why giving him more time to play against men before calling him up will hurt his development. We have plenty of youth on the team as it is.
