Questions (getting back into ice)

Hey guys (and girls),

I'm 24 years old and joining my first adult league this summer. I'm not new to hockey (played A/AA growing up), but the college that I attended didn't have an ice rink, so I played roller there on a club team. After 4 years of roller though, I'm worried that my ice skills have taken a turn for the worse. I haven't been able to hit up a stick time, but do any ice-turned roller-turned ice-again players have some tips to get me back into my good skating habits?

Also...I'm a pretty short guy (5'5 ish), and I've always worn a cage...always hated it too! Are visors a good idea in a men's league? The league I'm joining consists of mostly experienced players, so I'm hoping they keep their sticks down..there's always a risk though. Any shorter guys who go visor care to chime in?

One more thing...I'm in the market for a new set of shoulder pads. I'm eying the 5030s, but I'm not sure how much protection they'd offer for a men's league. Think they'd offer enough protection? I play Center, so I'm kinda worried of taking slapshot in the chest while I'm clearing the crease out.

Thanks!
