It's interference not because he didn't play the puck, but because Hornqvist hadn't touched the puck yet. You teach defensemen to play the body and that's what Johnson was doing. I have no problem with the play or the result. It was too close to call the penalty on. If the puck had been past Johnson by several feet, then the call is made, otherwise you'll never see a call on that play.
