Probably too far I should have said Clippers. But a suprisingly polarizing team in thier own backyard considering the success and lack of other pro teams in Basketball and Hockey the most popular sports IMO. You get more Laker haters than USC haters.
Reading forums I see lots of people from Cali trying to defend why they love Bird and McHale so much and these arent east coast transplants.
THe point I wanted to make is sucess in and of itself doesnt draw fans, but for a team like the Kings who is culturally well liked by everyone in LA not within a few miles of Arrowhead Pond if the Kings make a Stanley Cup finals and arent wearing purple and have the best NHL unis you are going to see them worn everywhere in LA.
The point is the Kings have the potential to be as culturally popular as the Lakers even if it sounds outrageous. Cause anyone who isn't a HUGE Laker fan seems to hate on them and specifically root against them.
How do you be from somewhere and dislike a local team with that much star power? Magic and Kobe are good guys, Shaq was on the team. Even the Vlade Nick Van Excel years it was a good team. The haters surprise me thats all.
