Trotz falls on his face when he tries to make these "hybrid" lines that have neither an offensive or defensive identity. If we're going to be successful, the top six is what it was when we were at our hottest, through march:
Kostitsyn Fisher Hornqvist
Erat Legwand Ward
beyond that--
Spaling O'Reilly Wilson
Tootoo Smithson Halischuk
That's the way I'd roll it. I'm hesitant to put O'Reilly in, but Trotz is limiting Geoffrion's icetime so severely right now anyway, it's not even a benefit to have him in. If Sullivan is healthy...I really am nervous about putting him in, but if he has to be, I'd alternate him and Wilson and see who sparks.

Well the lines I posted were basically the same as yours. I wasn't advocating putting Spaling on the top line. My SK line has been SK - Fisher - Hornqvist except for initial thought of getting O'Reilly back into the line up and moving Fish to a more shut down role a la Legwand last season or to the wing, but putting Cal in would most likely be a bad idea unless it's in a limited role. I'm just tossing around ideas to see what sounds good, honestly. I hate the lull between the end of the regular season and the start of the play offs
edit: in your bottom six I'd probably trade one of Halischuk or Tootoo for Spaling, but those lines look good either way really.
