Tampa had like $9m in unused cap space this year.
The Bolts have $22 million invested in Vinnie, St. Louis, Malone and Ohlund. So if Stamkos goes to 9-10 million you have 5 guys eating half your payroll for the next 4 years minimum. Not to mention the will need to re-sign Hedman next year, they only have 4 D under contract next year and have no goalies.
This team isn't made of money like the big boys higher up on the east coast....and Brian Burke who wants a Toronto boy, a young kid and has space may make a crazy offer like this.
Sure, the Bolts would match, but one of St. Louis or Vinnie would have to go, and we know Vinnie has not market and St. Louis the more valuable of the two as he is Stamkos's linemate.
The Bolts would be in a dilemma.
