i think OT just takes away from the excitement of the final couple minutes of a tied game. It's like a firework grand-finale, you don't want it to be followed with a weaker finale-finale.

regular season a tie should be a tie. 60 minutes, if a tea wants to go for it they will, if not they won't in overtime either.

overtime means a winner, and when you have a winner you should have a loser. getting 1 pt for losing in overtime is half the reason overtime 4on4 is such embarrassingly poor hockey. it's like rookie all-star game… sure they want to win, but not if it means playing defense.
