The only way Cowen isn't starting in the NHL is if Kuba finds the fountain of youth and Phillips becomes a physically dominating player.
My bet, neither is going to happen. Cowen was on the verge of making it last year, and from what I have seen of him, improved in almost ever facet of his game. I really see no reason to send him to the AHL, just because some believe its the way to do things, it isn't, every player is different.
Rundblad on the other hand may need some AHL time to help him adapt to the smaller rink and NA play. Should he be send down, I would expect it won't be for too long. Of course the numbers game might play a factor, but I still think DR will be in Ottawa no later than Christmas.
